Best preview performance?

Hi
If I want to play an imported AVI video clip in preview window in maximum performance, what should I consider? Things on my mind:
- setting resolution to the same as original AVI clip in "Project Video Properties"
- setting preview quality to Preview or Draft

Are there any other things to consider? Should I disable filtering somehow?

The reason I'm asking this, I got video clips that I want to have sync with another program (Cakewalk Sonar). So, basically I only need VV:s video playback capabilities.

Those are the key things to do. There is a Bypass video FX button on the Video Preview window, but if you're not using any, then there are none to bypass.

Of course, don't use any pan/crop or track motion either. "Display Square Pixels" (context menu in Video Preview) should be off as well to ensure no image scaling.

Finally, if you're using DV, setting the Video Preview to half size (360x240) will put the DV decoder into a faster mode too. You might be able to stay in Preview quality instead of Draft, which is even lower resolution. If the Video Preview is undocked, double-click on the title bar two times to get it exactly half size.
