best settings for audio bg

Struggling along-- now my biggest problem is the background menu audio. I used a wav file that sounded fine in sonic foundry but the bass is awful, humming, on dvd playback. What format is best to bring into dvda- wav or mpg? Should I do a lot of equalizing before hand?

Definitely not MPG (DVDA will always re-compress it). Either use WAV and set your project to PCM audio or render to AC3 and set your project as such.

If that doesn't help, you should post your question on the audio forum.
