Best settings for seamless shorts loop

quangle wrote on 4/25/2025, 10:24 AM

HI

Movie Studio Platinum 16.0

I'm trying to make short loop videos with my own music for Youtube Shorts, Reels, TikTok, etc.

I've created a ~20 second WAV music loop that plays seamlessly on repeat on a PC media player. I've used that in Movie Studio to put over a video loop and when played on loop in MS it is also seamless. No audio or video glitch.

But when I export it and play the video in any of my local media players it glitches between loops. Same when uploaded to Youtube shorts. NB, I set the markers to the audio segment and when selecting render or Make Movie I check 'loop region only'.

There are plenty of videos out there that loop undetectably. Can MS 16.0 do this and if so could someone recommend settings please.

Thanks

@quangle Hi, more info would be needed,

-------------------------

Screen capture the whole MS UI, a screen shot of the project properties & one of the render settings.

----------------

Do this for both the video that you're applying the loop to & the loop itself -

There's an App called MediaInfo, download it, it's free & a fast download with no added adverts or any of that rubbish https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo.

After downloading, right click on the media file in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the options at the top, drag the edges of the window that pops up so it shows all the information & screen capture that page, post that image on here using the arrow button next to the smiley at the top of a new comment 👍

Or Copy & paste the information in a new comment like this -

-----------------

A sample of the loop might be useful, share that on a file sharing site like Google Drive. (it's understood if you'd prefer not to do that)

------------------
Share the link to the YT video that shows the glitch with the chain button at the top of a new comment.

----------

& inc your PC specs, Full name of the CPU, GPU & amount of RAM, also inc what Windows version you're on.

Thanks for your reply.. Seems a bit complicated, tbh.

I've made a loop that loops seamlessly, both audio and video, in Movie Studio Platinum 16.0 itself. But when I render it for upload to one of the video sites the loop is no longer seamless. It glitches each time it comes back to the start.

In general terms are there recommended settings for video shorts of the TikTok, Reels variety? File format, codec, frame rates, etc? Is MS 16 even capable of rendering seamless loops or should I use a different specialist tool?

@quangle I'm unclear what you are doing when you say "I've used that in Movie Studio to put over a video loop". Please describe what you are doing to create the loop.

Please describe what you are doing to create the loop.

Sorry, I didn't see a notification for the last reply.

In simple terms my question is, what video render settings should I use for making loopable videos for shorts platforms such as TikTok, Reels, Youtube shorts etc.?

I recorded a music track in Cubase and I want to take a segment of this to repeat in a seamless loop over a section of video. As with Vegas, in Cubase you can set start and end locators and render the section between. By setting the locators to snap to beats or bars you make a perfect loop if the music is quantised. I can play the resultant .WAV loop on repeat in an audio player and there is no audio drop-out/transient when it restarts each time. .WAV is lossless so there's no buffering issue in playback.

Likewise I've created a bit of video in Vegas to loop over the exact length of the audio loop placed on a music track. I snapped locators to the audio loop to render the video containing the new audio. This ensures that it loops at the exact points I know works glitch-free for audio. Before rendering, the video and audio play glitch-free within Vegas on a loop between these locators.

When I render between locators though, the resultant video file won't play glitch-free in any desktop player or Youtube shorts.

The question again: What video render settings should I use for making loopable videos for shorts platforms such as TikTok, Reels, Youtube shorts etc.?
