If it's an even across-the-spectrum loss, and you used to turn your volume control up to a comfortable level somewhere between 3 and 4, and now with the new cable you turn the volume up to a comfortable level somewhere between 3 and 4, you're not going to notice even the 2.4dB difference, since you probably used to have the knob at 3.7 and now at 3.2, and you're not likely to notice that it's not the same place anymore.

One place i did notice it was the local college theater where they ran 150 feet 26ga solid wire from the amps in the control booth down the walls into the cellar, across under the auditorium, then back up the walls to the speakers on stage. I couldn't get the volume high enough for the dance troop to hear the music. I ran my own 16ga stranded 60 feet over the catwalk and the resulting volume increase was probably 15 or 20dB. Very much better bass response too.

That wire got hot!
If it feels more than lukewarm, it's time to run a second strand for the next show, and replace with a bigger cable the next day.
