Best template for HDV rendering?

david-ruby wrote on 2/1/2009, 11:30 AM
I have just shot and edited a training video and it was shot with a canon XH- A1 at hdv 60i.
I then used project settings of hdv 1080 60i to edit this.
I figured that I should be able to burn this in dvd arch and fit on a standard dvd. What is the best rendering template in Vegas to use for this?

I have another question but will wait to hear about this first.
Thank you everyone!!

If you are wanting to render it out to DVD to play on a DVD player you will want to use the MainConcept mpg-2 DVDA encoder template (widescreen if widescreen) and AC-3 for the audio.

The AC-3 encoder I would use is the pro and a few adjustments will need to be made to make the audio sound as you hear it on the timeline (do a search on here for AC-3).

So to play on a regular dvd player I would not use the
hdv 1080 60i render template from Main concept?
You have the choice of your template ; mpeg 2 main concept.
Then you have below this the template ofdvda arch or hdv 1080i 60. I thought since it was 1080 that it should render as this. Can you expalin ? Thank you so much. ; )

David, regular DVD players can't play an HD signal (1080i), hence the reason for rendering it to SD (480i).

Gotcha. Sorry I was looking at a dvd player that played at this rate.
I understand. If you want true HDV go Blue ray eh?
Thank you for your help.
