48000Hz, 16 bit Stereo, PCM wave

for a reason unknown to me the default is 44000Hz

Now, I always prepare and render my AUDIO out to AC-3 from within VEGAS.

I wasn't aware, Ulf, that the DVD format could actually use WAV? If it can't then THAT must be the reason why it is re-compressing it? Why should this be "wrong"? Maybe DVDA is preparing the Audio FOR burning to DVD?

Grazie

pcm is one of the dvd formats audio types.
ac3 wasn't even an option in vms studio untill recently.

Thanks guys,

I'll use AC-3 or 48 KHz in the future. Just a waste of good time to wait for recompression, even on quiate a fast box.

Not only a waste of time to recompress, but potential loss of quality too.

Are you project settings set to AC3? If so, then DVDA will always recompress. Set your project settings to WAV if you want to retain the WAV format.
