Best way to break project into smaller pieces

I'm one of those getting the crashes during rendering in V8a. I was able to get a 25 min draft by breaking into 3 segments & combining in DVDA. I did this by deleting the other timeline material and then a render of loop region as I didn't know how to slide my audio envelope markers forward with the vids and pics.

I don't know how Vegas works with memory so appreciate any help as I try to finish the project which will run ~35 minutes so may be 4 segments.

Is it more efficient for Vegas to load a smaller project and render it VS loading the entire project and then rendering parts via loop regions?

I'm trying to increase my chances of the rendering making it but separate files are some extra work.

Thanks & hope tech support gets release (b) out soon.

"Save as" and delete.

Save your entire project just for backup, then (for example) delete tracks 1 and 2, and render 3. Go back to the original project either by reopening or by using the "UNDO", deleted track 3 and import the rendered track. Repeat as necessary.

You could also Save As in sections. If you make a timeline selection and press Ctrl+T it will delete (truncate) everything on every track that is outside of the selection. So you could create several regions and save just the regions individually as projects.

Thanks guys, I was used to VMS which was limited in tracks so I had all the pics/vids on the same track. Didn't think to have each segment on its own set of audio/video/music tracks.

If I save files for the original + each segment and then re-open each file for rendering... would this use less memory then loading the full file and deleting tracks?

regards.

If you are just trying to get a long render to work it might be easier to render in sections using the Render loop region only option. If that doesn't work, then making smaller projects will use less memory.
