Best way to convert 1080i/60 to 24p in Vegas?

I just made a short 720p WMV version shot with the Canon XL-H1 at 1080i/60 and brought it into vegas to edit. I worked with the raw m2t files (which worked great).

Now I've been rendering out the files as 1080p/30 and 720p/30 and it looks great, but I wouldn't mind trying to convert it ot 24p to see what the result is like. What's the best method for doing this?

Also, is there really a need for an intermediate codec now that Vegas handles straight m2t files so well?

Thanks!

Search as there is a LOT written on this here before, but basically you just set your project properties to 24p.

I just render my 60i timeline to 24p template. Also try experimenting with 720 60p wmv.

I did search and there really hasn't been any good answer, just a lot of heresay.

I've tried just setting my project properties to 24p, but that makes the video look horrible.

I've also tried leaving the project at 1080i/60 and then rendering out to 24p and it yields better results than if the project was 24p, but still lots of problems in the encoding.

I'm starting to think it really isn't worth doing it, or Vegas can't convert 60i to 24p very well. I'll try experimenting in Fusion to see if it can do any better.

Agree, , but why do you want to do it ? whats the benefit besides a smaller file , 24p is a bunch of jittery B.S.
of course thats just my opinion . yep i do know film is 24 frames.. and yep sure looks great,, but thats film !!! not DV

That's kinda what I'm thinking risce1. I only decided to try because of a comment from someone asking why I didn't output it as 24p.
