It mainly becomes a function of your mixing board. I wish I had a
diagram, maybe I'll do a little article on it and post it on Peep!
Studios' site.
My mixer has one stereo monitor out and one stereo main out. I send
the signal from Vegas to the mixer and cue it through my monitor outs.
The monitor outs go straight from the board to the amplifier,
bypassing the computer completely. Any signal that I want to record
independantly of the main program I send through my main out, which
goes into my computer's record ins, straight into Vegas.
The main thing is to get a mixer with this kind of funtionality.
Virtually all of the good boards out there will allow you to do this
(Mackie and Behringer to name a couple).
