Best way to select ALL beyond cursor

Randy Brown wrote on 9/23/2007, 11:14 AM
The scenario is I insert time to place a new clip on a timeline with many tracks and many track motion keyframes. I want to pull everything back over to the end of the new clip. How can I select everything including the keyframes to drag back to that point. I use to use Tsunami (or maybe it was Excalibur) in V5 to select everything like this but I don't want to upgrade to the new version for only this feature.
Surely V8 can do this but I can't seem to find how in Help.
TIA,
Randy

Wouldn't ripple edit take care of this for you? Turn on ripple editing for all tracks, markers, etc. Highlight the empty space after the new clip and press Delete.

Thanks Kelly,
I quit using ripple edit long ago (and forgot about it) when it got me into messes that were hard to recover from but I suppose it's time to try again (and just remember to toggle back off when I don't need it).
Thanks again Kelly,
Randy

You never ever need to have auto ripple turned on. Just learn the three key combinations for the three ripple types and then you can ripple what you want, when you want.

I almost never have any problems with auto ripple. Maybe i've just figured out what it does, when, how, and why: Dunno. I almost always leave it on as it speeds up my editing a lot.

Excalibur has the "Select Events" tool and it does work in Vegas Pro 8. However, Vegas 8 has an issue where the "selected events" don't all move right now. It's supposed to be fixed in a future Vegas release.

Edward is correct, it's a V8 issue, and this has come up before in the last few days. Glad to hear it's being fixed. That would be V8a?

re: Autoripple - You can see what it's doing as you drag / resize events when it's turned on, which helps a lot.

There is a script for doing exactly that.

Here you have it. It works for me in VP8

Like I said, scripts like Excalibur are actually SELECTING the events correctly. However, when you attempt to move them is where the problem comes in. All the events properly show as selected. They just don't all move.

Edward, that seems to be correct. I have script from John R, Selecteventsfrom cursor. Runs fine in V8 but as you say, all events do not move, as they should.
