Better looking preview?

I recently upgraded motherboard/cpu from celeron 500 to athlon 1.4

My previews looked pretty good with the celeron, but now, after having reinstalled windows2000 and vegas video, dx8 and such, my previews look horrible. color errors, jumpy, etc... Anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this? How to make them look better?

What do you have the quality pulldown set to on your preview window? How does the quality of your rendered files compare?

The preview quality is set to best. I just rendered a short clip, and the rendered version looks like the preview, would you call it a rainbow effect?

I'm not sure what I would call it, as I haven't seen what you preview looks like. What format is your source video in? Where was it captured from? You may need some specific codec updates to get the video looking as good as it did before.

I agree with Natem. Try checking your latest drivers from the web of the manufacturer of your existing Video Card. Also, have you checked your 'display' settings. I had a similar problem, but it was all working well when I tried a different monitor. It turned out that I had a limitation on my color 19" monitor. (yes, several years old...now replaced!) When I hooked up my other 19" (new model) monitor, there were no problems after reboot. (i.e. plug and play detected the new monitor and it's capabilities as the old monitor was extremely limited in it's resolution) It's a good idea to update your display driver anyway, since so many programs that are new need certain versions of your existing driver(s). (i.e. 4.1, 4.2, etc) Godd luck!
