Beware XP and Firefox update 27.0.1 and MS .NET

Recently on March 9th I updated Firefox to 27.0.1 and now my Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c will not launch. I get the error about the "Error message for MSVCR71.dll in sony vegas pro 8.0 will not open..."
This latest build of Firefox no longer supports MS.NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1 and I suspect this to be the culprit. (It says this in my add-ons manager view...)
Did not setup a restore point before I did this and now am looking into if I can rollback to a earlier version of Firefox.
Am unsure about re-installing Sony 8.0 and how that will affect my projects therein.
Any advice on that part?
I tried a search on the term "MSVCR71.dll" on this forum and could find nothing.
It sounds complicated trying to add back this .dll.

So be careful out there you folks on the older OS's...

I am having to re-use the XP box to be updated with lots of new parts to a Win 8.0 box so that I can do 3D gaming with my ASUS 3D capable monitor.

I went to 8 because my parents surprised me with a 23" Acer Touchscreen for Christmas. :) I assume you have if you have a 3D monitor, but have you seen the Oculus? I don't have one but it looks pretty impressive.

I am aware of the Oculus and it seems every few month a few new entries appear. Perhaps in 6 months or so I will try a "upgrade".

There is a Lunar Lander game that looks real good as you can look out left and right and use the instrumentation presented in front of you.

My ASUS version has the more tradtional glasses and after 7 months the monitor has held up perfectly well.
