Bezier mask has visible edge

I need to remove the word "Samsung" from a monitor that is clearly visible in the frame behind my subject.

Plan is to set up two identical tracks, cut a bezier mask in upper track around the word, allowing me to see the track below.

I then offset the lower track to the right with track motion. This allows me to see the texture just to the left of the word. It will then match the upper track exactly.

The trouble is, no matter what I do, I get a hard black line around the mask. It looks like I cut a piece of paper and laid it on the background.

Inside the Pan/Crop masking controls, I have tried feathering in, out and both, but always get a black line (like a border).

Basically, I'm trying to blur out an offending trademark, like you see all the time on TV.

How do I make a smoothly fuzzy hole through which I can see the same video below, except it is offset a bit?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

Did you try turning the anti-alias option on?

2- If you have filters, go into eventFX and click the little triangles in the bottom left corner.

That controls pre/post toggle... you may need the filters applied BEFORE masking.

Glenn,

Yes, I have filters: Levels, Color Corrector and Sharpen.

Wow. That is really esoteric. Who'd a thunk little triangles could mean so much?

Thanks.

It's the little triangles of death. :D Definitely esoteric... only figured it out when I was skimming through the manual.

Hmmm. Here's my deal - I have several layers of video all taken within a few minutes of each with the camera exposure locked. I'm creating Bezier masks around objects on each track I want to appear. The problem is, the area within the mask appears darker than it should be and the outline of the mask is clearly visible - kind of like a very dull "multiply" or "add" compositing. Anti aliasing is on (though that only affects the edges of the mask) and feathering doesn't solve my problem. There are no effects/filters on the video events. Do I have to brighten each clip to get them to match?

Yeah you can try adjusting the exposure in Vegas.
