BillyBoy - .Mid < .Mp3 < .wav?

BillyBoy:
Visited the "Midi Songs" site linked to your website. I see several interesting files that could be useful as music beds, etc in future home video projects. However, all the files are in ".mid" format. I know these can be rendered into
".Mp3" and/or ".wav" formats, but, ignoring the file size differential, is there any advantage to doing so as far as use in Vegas 4.0 is concerned? This from someone who doesn't know a decibel from a barbell! Thanks to you and anyone else who chooses to respond.

P.S. By the way, you have a great website; crammed with useful information.

Always go for less compression. WAV isn't compressed so it will be easier and faster to work with than MP3. Theoretically it could be better quality too.

I agree with Chienworks, except maybe for background music you may want to include for a DVD menu stuff like that where quality isn't that important. Generally you want to avoid compressing a file that is already compressed when possible since you'll lose quailty for sure. While some will disagree I think the overall quality of audio is less important than the video quality unless of course the focus is the music itself. However when you have music as a background, remember it IS in the background. :-)
