Bit Rate Viewer

I'd asked about this a few times on different forums and no one seemed to have heard of it much less knew where to find it. I used to have a copy and thought I'd lost it, well I just found it buried on an old drive. Now that I know what it's called I could finally Google it. You can get a copy from here:
http://www.labdv.com/software/encoding-en.html
Look for "BV.exe"
It's pretty small but I suspect very useful, it gives you a graphical view of the bitrate of a mpeg-2 file. Not that exciting maybe but I've had the odd issue caused by noisy video sending the bitrate into the outer limits causing the odd player to choke.
Now that I've found this little gem again I'll be running it over everything I encode.
Bob.

good product -- very very well known and used ...
buy it if you use it - though in the free mode it is still very useful ..

there are also now some other bit rate viewers and mpeg checkers also ...

I've used this from time to time, mainly to try and figure out why a customer had an issue with a DVD we created. In one case I tracked it down to a number of small spikes in a short time frame.

Thanks for jarring my memory Bob! I had that on my system too for a long time then lost track of it when I bulit my last PC and couldn't remember where I put it, so downloaded a fresh copy.

Until B_JM mentioned it I had no idea this gem could actually be bought, the version I had doesn't offer any obvious way to pay for it!

For those of us who make a quid out of this business you can get the full version from here, only 30 Euro.

http://www.tecoltd.com/

You can even get the freeware version from there complete with documentation.
