( . . sorry Folks, I'm trying to get my new Acid Pro 4.0 install sorted out . .. bit slow over on the AP4 site .. not like ehere - HAH! )

Okay, let's keep it simple. I've got 3 drives C, D & E. For best preferences, which one would you copy your: Loops; Projects . . from the content disk, to. Sorry about the "grammar" I'm knackered from walking around the Video Forum . . me legs are grumbling . . .

TIA - Grazie

In terms of stressing your hard drives, audio is generally so much kinder than video (until you get into really high audio track counts of course. So performance wise it probably won't make a huge difference; for the sake of house keeping:

anywhere BUT the C:\ drive and all on the same drive. And if you are using video at the same time, preferably on a different drive to the video.

Aside from this, I pretty sure if you are using a lot of shorter audio clips or loops then Acid loads them into RAM rather than play them back from HD. I believe there is a preference which lets you decide the limit for the size of samples that will be loaded into ram and those which will play from disk. I might be imagining things :)

Good question. I have them on "D" and "E" but didn't notice much difference.

I got 3 drives in my DAW, boot, audio and video. 2 partitions in the audio drive, one for loops and samples and one for mutitracking. The video drive also has 2 partitions, one for video and the other for backups and recovery. I never use my C drive to store important files just in case I encounter an unrecoverable computer crash I can still salvage data.

I've got 2 drives.
I've got the system drive and my second drive is partitioned. One partition is MEDIA and the other is PROJECTS.
Media includes LOOP LIBRARIES (purchased loop CDs), GET MEDIA (folders for each month of downloaded get media content), 8-Packs (downloaded from AcidPlanet), SOUND FORGED (morphed loops edited in Sound Forge), 1001 Sound FX (downloadable from this site), etc.
PROJECTS is as the name implies... projects currently being worked on.

MyST - I like your approach. I like it a lot! - Thanks. I think I'll make my own "variation" of this . . makes sense to me . .easy . .
