black bar

Is there a way to put a black bar on part of a video clip to obstruct part of the view like they do on TV shows to edit out inappropriate footage. (Think nudity on the Howard Stern show)? I am new to this so keep it simple if possible.

You can do this with the cookie cutter by placing some black generated media on the track above the video and using the cookie cutter to just let a small black bar show through. The problem you will have is that the thing you’re trying to cover will be moving and you’ll need keyframing to really keep the black bar positioned correctly. You really need Vegas to get this type of keyframe capabilities.
