Blank screen on external HDMI monitor

Movie Studio 15 Platinum. Turning on Video Preview on External Monitor generates and blank white screen. All suggestions are welcome.

Brand new Acer Aspire 7 laptop with Nvidia 1060 graphic accelerator driving an external Acer HDMI monitor.

I think that "External Monitor" is used for video via dv card, not thru HDMI.

*** I prefer dragging the preview window to that second monitor and add to it the window of the time display (time-code)

Which pixel settings and other settings are set on that monitor?

Its an Acer SB220Q bi 21.5" Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS Ultra-Thin Zero Frame Monitor (HDMI & VGA port). Refresh Rate: 75Hz - Using HDMI port.

My new Acer computer has only HDMI port and no VGA port.
