Blank start=faster render?

Anyone else seen a faster render by having the beginning of a file blank? I had a 12 hour render to mpg that went FUBAR and so needed to be re-rendered. When I reloaded the project, I rippled all the media down when I test inserted a counter file, removed the file, but didn't undo the ripple, and just rendered. The render was quite a bit faster second time around, and the only difference at all was the inserted blank area. It's rendering now, so I can't test it on this machine with this project, but the time indicator and frames are pretty clearly much faster, by about 25%.
Am I dreaming in the wee hours?

I've never noticed... because I always have about 1 second of black before/after my footage. Maybe i'll try rendering something w/o the black and see how long it takes.

Hi Spot,

What is "FUBAR"?
Is it the "one dollar" thingy

Flubbed Up Beyond All Repair.... FUBAR :-) Sorry Lawrence, I keep forgetting people from other countries read these things.

Thanks SPOT, now I understand.

I tested and the rendering time is the same,

Improved rendering time may be possible if unused rams are released. - I have the ram turbo to defrag and scrub ram.
Program has Smart rendering.
background jobs differs at the stage of second rendering.

or the times from the cmos clock is not reporting correctly.

I always thought FUBAR was F&$ked Up Beyond All Recognition

I guess it has many meanings though :)
