Blank Video Clips Only After Movie Studio Renders

This happens maybe once every other video that I produce. I edit the video, play it back within Movie Studio and see that it is fine. However, after I render it (via Movie Studio), it displays a black screen with normal audio at specific times. They range from 3 seconds to 12 minutes and seem to center around the seam between two segments. I zoom the segment as close as it goes and see no other video frames that might be interfering (I know that errant video frames that end up superimposed over the video timeline will produce a black screen. It does not appear to be the case currently though.). The segments are side-by-side with no space between them (because that also creates the black screen). -Dahl

Have you also ensured that there are not video clips on an upper video track? Maybe an upper track that you need to scroll up to see?

Otherwise, what model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?

What are your Project Settings?

Do you get the same results even if you render to a different file format?

Thanks for the response, Steve. That upper video track was a good starting point but no, there are none there (at least in the area at issue). I'm using Fraps at 30fps (29.7pfs actually) which writes to an .avi file which is what I import into Movie Studio.

I'm at work right now so will get the project settings and the results of testing a different file format back to you this evening. It used to be Fraps(avi), Sony(render as .wmv,) Handbrake(render as MP4. Right now it's avi to mp4 to a rerender of mp4 (cuts down size by at least 50%, usually more. I will get back to you.
