"Blind Date" and "The 5th Wheel".......

Can anyone explain to me how they add all those effects in those shows?
If your not sure what i'm asking, just watch either show and you'll understand what i'm saying.
I see them use so many effects in each show, it's more effects then anything, meaning, it's almost what makes the show.
Any help on this subject would be great.....tia

All it seems to be is a bunch of graphics on top of the actual date they tape. They are most likely certain graphic files (psd, png or some other special program type) that they animate slightly for different effects. If one were to put some time into a project like this, Vegas would be able to handle it easily (in theory).

Not just in theory....I've played around and done the same thing.

It's very very very very easy to do.

It's just graphics laid on top of the actual video. then you can either animate the graphics in Vegas (if you want) or some other program and then bring it back into Vegas.

I've laid animated GIFs in my projects (well, after converting to AVI first). Very simple to layer, resize and animate.

Check out my X-Men Movie (www.KJVPresents.com) - you will see what I mean.

Anyway you could explain in more detail about how it was done, like step by step?
I'm kinda duh duh when it comes to these things....but thanks anyways just for the info given!

Nothing to explain...really.

1. Import graphic
2. Make graphic upper most to show on top of video
C. Use Motion Tracking (and key events) to move/size graphic

You have to make sure the graphics are the upper tracks so they lay on top of your video.

Know what I mean?

he just means that you make your graphics in another program (like photoshop) and import them into vegas. Put them in a video layer ontop of your video and you're set.

i've seen the shows and they probely just use a simple animation to do those drawings.

If you couldn't follow those simple instructions, man, you've got a l-o-n-g way to go.

Do you even know what NLE stands for?

Well, he did forget a word (2. Make graphic upper most LAYER to show on top of video), and numbered 1,2,c. Nothing drastic, but some people might be confused. I certinatly wasn't.

Duh... we got to remember we got people not just new to Vegas, but new to video editing. What may sound overly simple may confuse the heck out of somebody new.

Couple suggestions if you are really new. Do the interactive tutorial that comes on the Vegas CD. Time well spent and you'll get a handle on the basics fast. If you downloaded Vegas off the web the files are also on SoFo's site... somewhere. So too for a really good PDF version manual, (full color, loaded with examples) that's over 300 pages and in my opinion VERY well written and illustrated. It too is on the SoFo site, S/B under the product section for Vegas or if not there the download section.

Quickie question for Dennis or some SoFo guy if they by chance happen to read this.

Is that guy with the beard in the tutorial one of you Sofo guys? If so, who?
