We used 3 different MiniDV Cams to capture a RolePlay & Lecture session. 2 were Sony consumer cams & 1 was a TRV-900. We captured using VEGAS 5b and a Sony DSR-11 DVCam deck via firewire. The cameras were recording on LP with 60 min Maxell tapes.
After capture when I brought the Vids onto the timeline I noticed that periodically there is Digital Noise/Blockiness that appears every now and then. This Digital Noise/Blockiness was also present on my final DVD. I did not see any of this Digital Noise/Blockiness during my capture preview so I'm baffled as to how, when, or where it was introduced. It is also not present when I just play back the tapes in the cameras. Does this sound like I just need to clean the heads of all 3 camera's? or Does this sound like a problem with recording in LP? or Does this sound like a problem stemming somewhere from capture?
I use this same Capture/Editing technique multiple times a day. Usually using miniDV or DVCam recorded at SP. <-- this is why I am wondering if it is because we recorded on LP.
Has anyone ever experienced 'Digital Noise' or Blockiness like this?
