Blocky text in VCD

Hi,

When I render a VCD straight from the timeline, my white text on a black background appears to have jagged edges due to the low resolution mpeg encoding. However, if I first render the text to an NTSC DV .avi file, then import that DV clip, and render it as a VCD, the text is much smoother, like it's been anti aliased; a world of difference.

Should this be happening? I can post an example if you like, but it should be easy to repro. I'm using 26 point Futura.

Luxo:

I am able to repro. What is happening is that the added step of rendering to DV causes further filtering of the image due to scaling.

To save you a step, try this instead: Apply the Gaussian Blur filter with the Light Blur preset on the text event(s) or track(s). I was able to get comparable results doing this.
