this totally defeats the purpose considering the software is now required to scale up to 1920 to meet the BD standards..
IMO, i believe that THIS is the main issue surrounding DVDA's lack of support.. being that the footage itself is required to be scaled up to that res to meet the standard.
As most of us know, DVDA is the only authoring tool to STRICTLY follow the guidelines set by the DVD forum, in turn, it only supports mandatory formats like ac3 and PCM.
If history dictates teh future, then more than likely sony are working on either having HDV res (1440x1080) become a stadnard for BD, OR changing the encoding algorythms within DVDA to allow a scale the source footage up to BD standard
I could be wrong, but this is more than likely the case..
there is also the issue of Vegas64bit which more than likely will include a Dolby Digital TrueHD encoder, or at the very least Dolby Digital Plus mixing and encoding options. Now these licenses and codecs are actually within DVDA, and are locked off from Vegas until DVDA is licensed.
So theres alot to consider when it comes to BD..
FOr now, DVDitPRoHD seems to work wonders, however It seems Sony are losing ALOT of clients here....
the amazing thing is that BD being a sony product, one would expect theyd be the first to offer it..
Instead ulead, scenarist, encore etc seem to be ahead of the game..
steve, i think u missed the point of the post..
My comment on "i might be wrong" was pertainign to the reasoning.
As for demand, well for every voice you hear asking for it here, theres anotehr 100 or so unheard voices asking the same thing
transport or not, resolution REQUIREMENTS for BD are 1920x1080... this is the standard.. hell theres not even a 25p standard for 1080 on BD...
HDV is 'transported" at 1440x1080
Its a fundamental difference when 1440 needs to be scaled UP to 1920 for delivery
