Blur a falling object

I have a still image of an object surrounded by transparency.

Are there affects which come with VMS 9 which would let me make that object appear to move down a curving road extremely fast, with a blur?

Actually, I'm not wondering so much about how to do it's movement, am more curious about how to make it blur, or streak, in lines that follow the motion path.

Any ideas how this might be accomplished with standard VMS 9 Platinum tools? Or with other free or inexpensive tools?

Maybe you can fake the blur by creating a blurry semi-transparent object on Photoshop, and then place it on top of the normal video track, and then when you animate the main object, you animate that one as well.

Try 'Radial Blur', and I think you will find it works great for that. Then just move your object along with keyframes in Pan/Crop, and you can keyframe the amount of 'blur' to match the speed of the object. Let us know if this helps. Cin
