BMD Intensity -> Vegas 7?

Take two Sony HC3 cameras (don't get HD much cheaper than that) via HDMI into card and record two uncompsressed HD streams. Cost $249.
Does it work with Vegas?

Probably not, BMD list compatibility with anything that uses Directshow, guess we're out of luck, again.

Cost is about 500 bucks because it requires two cards to capture two streams. Also need two PCI-e 1x slots.

Their "On Air" program is only for OSX.

You're right that it probably doesn't work directly with Vegas, unless Vegas' internal capture app can address the cards. Otherwise, you'd want a third party capture application.

Since you can't use their switcher application in Windows anyway, I think the cards maight be a bit limited at first. However, I do have some hope that Vegas could do simple captures without trying to do graphics or overlays.

The other question is whether Vegas would recognize the card as a simple output device. Again, no directX overlays or anything like that.

You can do a similar trick with the new box from Convergent Design, it'll do HDMI to HD-SDI. One can then put a HD-SDI card into a beefy PC running Vegas and capture that way. A bit more expensive on the down side, on the up side I'd rather be running HD-SDI than HDMI out to cameras.
One could also run the HD-SDI into a HDCAM deck, kind of like putting a Ferrai engine in a VW I know.

This has a bit of special interest to me because I have to create simulations in flash of our client's Digital TV product interfaces. Since they have HDMI output, it'd be nice to capture directly.

If the price was right. I can't see building a system just for that.
