messing with those BlackMagic Production Camera 4K files preview remains at 13.5(ish) frames per second.
First up, I am aware 4k files are large and hard to deal with etc, I understand that, but what I find curious is that it is ALWAYS around 13.5 no matter which way I view them from DRAFT QUARTER all the way up to BEST FULL... always 13.5
My system:
i7 3770k at 3.50 GHz non-OC
32GB Ram
full HD screen (mentioned for resoultion size viewed = 1920x1080)
Nvidia Gforce Titan (6GB ram and GPU probably doesn't help Vegas at all, I know)
file is Prores 422 MOV, 3840x2160 24p, 400MB
Things I have done that made no difference:
- switched from 24i to 24p. Vegas detected it wrong and called it 24i
- moved file from 7200rpm internal drive to 10,000rpm internal drive
- used the RESET VEGAS SETTINGS trick to get back to square one
- tested every stage of playback from DRAFT (auto) through BEST (full)
- altered preview ram from 0 to 1600
In some rare instances is, setting Preview ram to 1600 allowed it to hit full 24 for a few seconds before dropping back down.
My logic brain tells me if PREVIEW and FULL are running the exact same FPS, and I CAN get it to jump to a solid 24 for a little bit, some setting should let it work better.
NEW TEST: Looping the file (dragging to repeat) apparently loads the whole thing into RAM and after the first loop, plays solid 24 with preview ram set to 1600 - 3200
k, so is that all it is up to? Amount of PREVIEW RAM allocated?
Anyway to preload them into ram for during editing purposes?
Anyone else messing with those BM 4k files yet?
