Run "Nero CD-DVD Speed" from "Nero Toolkit" folder and look at "Bitsetting" tab. If not - try to find some alternative or patched firmware.

go to www.cdrinfo.com - under optical storage they have loads of burner reviews. All of the reviews check to see if this feature is available.

OK I bought the Sony burner and set the Booktype to DVD-ROM in the Nero Toolkit but how can I tell if it actually burned as a booktype of DVD-ROM? When I burn with my other computer which has a Plextor, nero says that it changed the booktype to DVD-ROM but when I burn with the Sony, Nero doesn't say that it changed the booktype. So is there a way to find out what type of booktype a burned disk has?

I found a program called DVDInfo that checks the booktype of a burned disk so nevermind that last question...and yes the Sony can burn a DVD+R with a booktype of DVD-ROM in case anyone else is wondering.
