Use a font that has shadow or experiment with the light rays FX.

If the idea is to increase readability, you could grey down the entire bacground. But: if you just want to add a little something to the typography, you should be very careful because the readability of moving text is vulnerable, to say the least. That's probably why they didn't add the option in the first place.

Adding a drop shadow to a credit roll is easy. Place the credit roll on its own track and then click the track motion icon. Click the check box for shadow and adjust to your liking. As for an outline on the text, I have not found a fast way. The only way I have done that is to create a regular text media the way I want it and then use the position property to scroll it.

I use Track Motion also to make an outline. It's just tricky to get the size & offset good. Be sure to save it as a preset when you do.

I hope VV4 makes all this a lot easier.
