The upgrade didn't work for me. According to the install/upgrade instructions:
"The installer that you are downloading will update Boris
Continuum Complete v9.x OFX to Boris Continuum
Complete v9.0 OFX"

which is goofy as this is the first release.
And, the confirmation email I received thanked me for downloading bcc8.1, even tho I clearly received the 9.x file.

I anticipate an hour or two on the phone with boris tomorrow.

Installed BCC9 over 8. Didn't work. Uninstalled 9. Uninstalled 8.
Tried a clean install. It goes into the computer at Programs/common files/ofx but does not show up in Vegas. Uninstalled and pointed it to Programs/sony/vegaspro12/ofx. Still does not show up.
Uninstalled and went back to BCC8. Everything back to normal.

Is BCC9 only for Vegas Pro 13?

I think I read that BCC 9 is only for Vegas 13. But don't quote me on that! If that is the case then Boris FX are doing themselves out of a lot of potential upgrades. The latest release of BCC 8.1 is compatible with VP13 though.

It would be nice if a Boris FX rep could spare the time to visit this forum and smooth our transition to BCC9 like New Blue FX reps have attempted to do with Titler Pro 3. That was most appreciated.

I have Sony Pro 11/13 64bit installed and BCC9 works with both. But not with the 64bit Movie Studio Platinum's.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit with Vegas Pro 12. Anyone get BCC9 to work with that.
Any suggestions on how best to install. I pre-ordered it and used the install link that was mailed to me yesterday. I may try the update link to see if that gives different results.
Spectralis wrote on 6/4/2014, 12:36 PM
I've just received my update to BCC9 but there are no instructions whether or not to uninstall BCC8. I have projects that use BCC8 so should I just install BCC9 without uninstalling BCC8? Why can't Boris FX help us with this?
MikeyDH wrote on 6/4/2014, 12:44 PM
I installed the trial in my windows 7 system and it shows up in both 12 and 13. Seems to run a lot faster than 8 did. So far so good.

It installed without having to uninstall 8.
monoparadox wrote on 6/4/2014, 12:52 PM
Uninstalled 8, installed 9. With the exception of having to manually install the structure in Plug-in Manager (installed ok in the Effects tab), things are going well. Everything seems solid. Loving the new transitions, effects browser is a real time saver and sped up film effects is super. Started to fool around a little with the laser light, but didn't have time to make it work. How about it JohnnyRoy? A tute on the laser effect?

What happens to older projects that use BCC 8.1 if I uninstall it and then install BCC 9?
Barry W. Hull wrote on 6/4/2014, 3:34 PM
I'm wondering if the upgrade to version 9, from version 8, is worth it? BCC 8 is already great software. What else are you getting in 9 to justify the $195 upgrade price?

Anyone? Thanks.
monoparadox wrote on 6/4/2014, 6:10 PM
I haven't run into any problems using 9 with 8.1 projects.

There's 10% off the upgrade atm. I think it's worth the green screen FX integration and the extra FX and transitions. But BCC8.1 is still incredibly versatile so perhaps the upgrade isn't essential.
Spectralis wrote on 6/4/2014, 7:28 PM
Thanks monoparadox. If I run into problems I can always reinstall BCC8.1. In an attempt to get definitive advice about installation I've emailed Boris FX tech support. Will post their reply.
monoparadox wrote on 6/4/2014, 10:19 PM
Bingo on the green screen. I played around with it a little and got a clean screen with some marginal lighting much easier than I ever could with v.8.

I have BCC9 working fine on Vegas Pro 10.0, 11.0, 12.0 & 13.0. Remember, the "official" support is more of a statement of what they have tested and are willing to fix bugs for. That doesn't mean that older versions don't work. Obviously it would be impossible for Boris to fix a bug with Vegas Pro 10.0 if it requires a change by Sony since Vegas Pro 10.0 is no longer supported. I have found that it's compatible with any OFX version of Vegas Pro going back to 10.0.

It's difficult for any company to monitor every forum but I will pass this along to Boris. In the mean time, why don't you post to the Boris FX forum instead? You'll get a fast response there.

> Reply by: monoparadox "Started to fool around a little with the laser light, but didn't have time to make it work. How about it JohnnyRoy? A tute on the laser effect?"

I'll see what I can do. The problem is that Vegas Pro doesn't have any capability to create a path so getting the laser to follow a path around things like text is impossible to do in Vegas Pro. :( Like I said, I'll see what I can come up with. In the mean time...

Check out my new Boris TV Episode on using BCC Grunge to recreate the opening title sequence from Deadliest Catch. That one plug-in alone is amazing!

> Reply by: Spectralis "What happens to older projects that use BCC 8.1 if I uninstall it and then install BCC 9?"

They should continue to work fine. All of mine do. I always uninstall the previous version.

I also always delete the Vegas Pro FX cache folder:

C:\Users\[windows account]\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\13.0

I don't know how well Vegas Pro keeps this up to date when new FX are installed so I just delete it and have Vegas Pro rebuild it as a safety measure when I update plug-ins (YMMV).

Here is what you get in the Upgrade. Only you can determine if it's valuable to your workflow:

Effects:
-Chroma Key Studio
-Edge Grunge
-Fast Film Glow
-Fast Film Process
-Grunge
-Lens Correction
-Laser Beam
-Magic Sharp
-Two Strip Color
-Vignette

Transitions:
-Blobs Wipe
-Blur Dissolve
-Checker Wipe
-Composite Dissolve
-Damaged TV Dissolve
-Fast Film Glow Dissolve
-Film Glow Dissolve
-Flutter Cut
-Grid Wipe
-Lens Distortion Wipe
-Lens Flare Dissolve
-Lens Flare Round
-Lens Flare Spiked
-Lens Flash
-Light Wipe
-Rays Dissolve
-Ribbon Wipe
-Rings Wipe
-Ripple Dissolve
-Tile Wipe
-Tritone Dissolve
-Twister
-Vector Blur Dissolve
-Vignette Wipe
-Water Waves Dissolve

That's a LOT of new functionality.

JR, I was hoping to hear "not much", so I wouldn't want to upgrade. Now looks like I need to spend some money, thanks a lot.

I uninstalled BCC8.1 and installed BBC9. All my old projects work fine so no problem there so far.

I really like BCC green screen FX. I also have Hitfilm FX and in my latest project I found BCC green screen FX gave a better result. I'm no expert so maybe someone else could make better use of Hitfilm FX than I. But out of the box I find BCC G/S FX easier to use.

Having said that, Photokey 6 Pro by FXHome are the best green screen FX I've used with Photoshop so I was slightly disappointed at the results of their video FX.

Anyone else having a problem where "Light Wrap" cannot be enabled
in the new chroma key studio?
Spectralis wrote on 6/7/2014, 1:01 PM
I use light wrap via the composite mode. I'm not sure it's possible to use it in the plugin when it's on a track. I know it shows up in the plugin interface when used on a track but I think it still needs to be used via compositing mode in Vegas.
Steve_Rhoden wrote on 6/7/2014, 3:42 PM
No, its unable to be selected both in the composite mode or on a track. Remember
im speaking of the chroma key studio filter with the light wrap option at the bottom
of the list.
The light wrap filter by itself that's in the compositing mode works ok.
Spectralis wrote on 6/7/2014, 4:29 PM
I know, I saw the light wrap at the bottom of that plugin but just assumed that it was part of the generic BCC interface but didn't work with Vegas except in compositing mode. I'm not sure why it doesn't work in compositing mode though.
