BorisFX is just buying up everything!.... I am delighted.

BorisFx has just acquired Syntheyes. The possibilities now are endless with BorisFX. https://blog.borisfx.com/boris-fx-acquires-prominent-3d-camera-tracking-vfx-software-syntheyes

Their last Acquisition prior to this was Crumple Pop Audio suite and they are joy having them here in Vegas Pro. Not to mention their newest offer in Vegas Pro 21 with Mocha Vegas for an even far greater integration with Mocha.

I love seeing these acquisitions by Boris, because normally in a few weeks we have them up and running in Vegas Pro, something never once thought possible.

Boris FX is a company with a lot of money.

In the past ten years, they stopped producing some of their own products:

Boris Red,

Boris Graffiti,

Boris FX and

Boris Final Effects Complete.

Then they bought many companies:

GenArts (Sapphire, Particle Illusion),

Mocha,

Silhouette,

Digital Film Tool,

Crumple Pop,

Syntheyes.

I even doubt that they will continue to buy NewBlue, Prodad, Pixelan, Revision, Digital Anarchy, etc.

Their best thing is that they can integrate products seamlessly with each other. For example, Mocha is integrated into BCC, Sapphire, Particle Illusion and Silhouette as a tracker and mask for FX parameters, and even the Spline of Mocha is used as the generating path of Sapphire and Particle Illusion's. These enable the acquired products to be integrated with each other, achieving the effect that one plus one is greater than two.

In 2016, I even hoped that they could buy Vegas, and their financial resources and technology would bring Vegas a bright future. Of course, they obviously didn't, and their focus was on post-production, not video editing.

They would do well to buy VideoRedo, which is currently inactive since the developer passed away.

Yes, BorisFX is working hard to "corner" the FX market. They have products for the more upscale video editing software. And since Vegas/Resolve and others use OFX, it's good to know Boris will have plugins for them.

Each year, they bring new features to the software, which makes it more compelling. They push out tutorials now, have an active forum where the developers are there to answer tech questions, and again, they don't "sleep" on their laurels and continue to push forward.

And their upgrade price (I am a perpetual type of person) is extremely reasonable, especially around Black Friday. So glad I bought Continuum Complete years ago...

Me too. It's great. I'd like to get Silhouette as well, but can't quite mentally justify the cost ...

Hahaha! Me neither with Silhouette! I've thought about Mocha Pro, but now VP21 Suite, and the inclusion in a lot of their effects, I am good.

Thanks BorisFX!

Silhouette is a great tool, and integrates well with Vegas, but its not for everyone, kinda only if you are in the business of producing high end film content or VFX..... If you are not in that field Mocha Pro gets the job done beautifully, especially now that the integration is tighter with Mocha Vegas.

Curious now to see if they gonna integrate Syntheyes as an OFX plugin also, making it available right their in Vegas if needed.

Reyfox wrote on 8/22/2023, 12:44 PM

So far, Syntheyes is a standalone.... but I'm sure BorisFX will work in integrating it as a plugin.

If only they'd bring back Silhouette Paint as a separately available OFX ... although I suspect it is now too deeply integrated into the full Silhouette package for that to happen.

@MikeS Nah.... Sorry, they are not gonna bring that back..... The majority is continuously requesting for more things to be added and integrated, so that's their vision going forward.

They certainly give you your money's worth with Continuum Complete. Sapphire is beyond my finances.
