BSOD when trying to launch 5.0d trial?

Hello, I just installed the trial version of Vegas 5.0d build is 194. Whenever I launch it I get a blue screen right after the splash screen comes up.

The BSOD is:
STOP 0x00000019 BAD_POOL_HEADER

it is the exact same BSOD every time. I am using XP SP2. CPU is an Athlon64 3500+. Everything is very stable on my computer, I have 2gb RAM and no other crashes or problems. Video card is a PCI-express Geforce 6600gt, I am running the new Forceware 71.84 WHQL drivers. All other drivers, patches + updates are current. No overclocked hardware, etc. Is this anything that can be fixed? I have already tried un-installing and re-installing the demo.

You might try re-downloading, in case you got a corrupt header or file component. Haven't seen this one before.
You also might try running EnditAll prior to running Vegas, in case something is in the background that you're not aware of.

Thanks for the reply. I tried re-downloading the demo. When I installed, I got the same BSOD still after the registration screen. I am at a total loss. I would really like to get this demo working because I have read the reviews and I want to use Vegas, not Premiere Pro.

If anyone has any more ideas I am desperate. Thanks.

There are two possible explanations.

1) Very unlikely but worth metnioning. Make certain that your browser cache is truly empty or at least does not contain the download. If it does, each time you "download" it might grab it from the cache.

2) A consistent BSOD in XP is most of the time caused by a bad driver. Check for updates on
a) your video driver.
b) Direct x
c) .Net Framework
d) Your soundcard

If they have updates, get them. If they do not have updates, reinstall them. (You cannot reinstall direct X)

Bob,
those are some very good ideas. I am sad to report though, that I tried both emptying my cache and re-downloading the installer as well as removing and re-installing the .NET (v1.1) framework. I really thought the .NET was going to fix it. But, no go.

As for my sound & video drivers I am running the latest WHQL versions (Nvidia + Creative Audigy).

I am really at a loss now. Hopefully Sony support can figure out what might be going on. The strange thing is that I literally have not a single other problem on this machine, it runs like a dream except for this -- so frustrating!!
