BSODs

Damn, I hadn't seen those bloody blue screens since forever. But they started showing up during rendering over the last few days. If I do a warm boot, I keep getting BSODs. If I do a cold boot, everything is back to normal.

To me, this is an indication of a bad driver. The only thing I have changed in the last while is the NVidia driver. Last night, I rolled back from 296.10 to 295.73. We'll see if that fixes my problems. Or if something else is behind the trouble - I got a few sets of NewBlueFX effects and transitions last week.

I probably will not have a chance to really test the problem properly until next week as I am about to go to Washington, DC, to film the Reason Rally.

Has anybody else experienced BSODs lately?

I recently had a single BSOD on an ancient (2005) laptop that I use in the kitchen. I re-booted, and it hasn't happened since. I think that I did a "system restore" to a date a month earlier. That's what I recommend, if you have the system restore feature enabled.

Had a BSOD the other day in XP that I attributed to Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.15 which had been behaving weirdly in the minutes leading up to it.

I had them due to nvidia drivers later than the 275 build. I just tried the 295 build and it's been OK so far.
