I get these if the total bitrate is more the 22 Mbps and you are creating a bluray on DVD. I lower the render in Vegas to 20 Mbps. Then when you add sound it easily is under 22 Mbps. You can push it up to 21 or so and still be OK but I can't see any difference between 20 and 21.3 Mbps.

If I render to a bluray disk then I don't get underflows.

Thanks it's a relief to know someone else has had the same message ... Do you alter under custom in 'render as ' with the alternatives between 16000000 or 192000 bps ? thanks gordon

Buffer underflows are a failure of your data buffer (storage tank) to keep up with the amount of data being read from it by the burner.

Tips:
1) Use a lower bitrate
2) Enable DMA. If you don't know what it is, Google DMA plus your OS.
3) Use fast, high quality media
4) Use a lower burn speed
5) Close all unnecessary background applications and processes
6) Close all internet / network connections
7) Upgrade your burner's firmware
8) Try a different burner

I get the underflow message when preparing a BluRay on DVD project to hard disk, not burning. It goes away robustly if my total data rate is below about 22 MBps. It does not occur if I prepare for a BluRay disk.

I haven't seen that error in years, but when we used to get it, it meant that the burner consumes the data faster than the PC can provide it.

You must be running a really slow PC.

System set up I have is 3.15 gig Intel Core 2 Duo
AsusTeK Computer inc P5QSE R rev 1
3328 Mb installed memory
1330 Gig Hard Drive capacity
Windows XP3 service pack
NVIDIA Ge force GTX 260 1932 mb
memory
I would have thought this system would have been more than adequate gordon

I repeat, for me it has nothing to do with PC speed or burning. It is DVDA calculating too high of a data rate for a BluRay on DVD project and telling you it isn't going to work.

I have a Core 2 Duo at 2.66 GHz/CPU and 4 Gbytes of DRAM.

Could you tell me where to adjust the data rate in DVDA or vegas or both Thanks Gordon
