bug of VP17: VEGAS preview window can't show Rotation, Scale controls

lan-mLMC wrote on 2/8/2020, 1:59 AM

Hello,VEGAS preview window can't show Rotation, Scale controls of BorisFX Sapphire.

How can I show OFX controls in VEGAS Pro preview window, just like in VEGAS Effects.

For example,BorisFX Sapphire's S_BlurMoCurve.

In VEGAS Effects, it will show some controls to control Rotation, Scale in preview window. But in VEGAS Pro it will show nothing controls in preview window. Both are all OFX format plugins.

VE Screen Shot.

VP Screen Shot.

Inputing value or dragging slider is very very inefficient .

Of course need to select it,everyone knows.

Built-in plugins of course have these comtrols. My VEGAS Pro's built-in plugins have too.

But what I mentioned is third-party BorisFX Sapphire's S_BlurMoCurve, not built-in plugin.

Third-party BorisFX Sapphire's S_BlurMoCurve has the controls in preview window in other OFX NLE such as VEGAS Effects、Hitfilm. But VEGAS Pro don't have.

I want to know how can VEGAS Pro show these handy controls to control Rotation, Scale in preview instead of inputing value or dragging slider.

Vegas Effects is a variation on HitFilm Pro (see FX Home forum re this: https://fxhome.com/forum/discussion/50547/vegas-post-and-hitfilm

HitFilm Pro and thus Vegas Effects is a fully fledged compositor in much the same vein as AE. As such, Vegas Effects has the Preview Window controls as does HitFilm Pro. Vegas Pro has not had to date rotation/size/scale/3D controls in it's Preview Window, and this could be the reason that MAGIX teamed up with FXHome to create Vegas Effects and its compositing abilities.

It meas VEGAS Pro can't show these controls. Alas~

I thought these controls was integrated in Sapphire plugin itself and all OFX host can show them before.

Not quite. My understanding is that Vegas Effects is a really well integrated plugin in Vegas Pro - but it is not Vegas Pro natively. Look at it another way, if the basic VP could do all the adjustments in the Preview Window like rotation/size/position/scale/3D space, the need to partner with another company like FXHome would probably not be needed.

While I don't have Sapphire (a BorisFX product), I speculate that it utilises the Preview Window controls 'where available'. Those controls are available in HitFilm Pro and Vegas Effects, but not in native Vegas Pro because VP simply doesn't have that capability. Similarly, many of the controls available in BorisFX's Mocha Pro OFX plugin (accessible within VP) are not available at all in native VP.

Actually, I think VEGAS Effects is not for the ability to adjust in the Preview Window. Even more, adjustments in the Preview Window is not the purpose why VE's is veing produced. VE is mainly for 3D model import、3D particle and other VFX and so on.

Actually, VEGAS Pro has been able to show many third-party OFX plugins's "position" controls in preview. The symbol is just like a "+". Just like this

And I believe that if VEGAS Pro put some efforts to it, showing "rotation"、"scale"、"flip" and other basic controls will not be so difficult.

Vegas Effects is for advanced compositing, effects, motion graphics, and more... just about everything After Effects is and then some.

That said, it would be nice to see VP enable such controls, maybe someday. In the mean time, use VE.

I must be missing something in your request. I can see the effect of all the slider movements in a BCC Boris FX effect in my VP17 preview window in real time. I also get a cross to move the effect in the preview window of VP17 Pro.

Here is no one talking about "real time".

You should look at the screen shot comtrast and understand【Actually, VEGAS Pro has been able to show many third-party OFX plugins's "position" controls in preview. The symbol is just like a "+". Maybe I don't understand your point.
You report almost exclusively about bugs or missing features in Vegas Pro, all of which are better solved in Premiere. Then why don't you use the so much better program Premiere? Vegas Pro: love it or leave it.

Hello, this post doesn't mention a Premiere, it is VEGAS Effects, maybe you are a little sensitive.

Point out the bugs or basic feature defects, just hoping them are paied enough attention to and VEGAS Pro will be more and more improved.

Sorry, you're right, VE not Premiere. Reading is an education.
I was under the impression of other threads

When will VEGAS team develop copy multi-selected FX and paste to other

Of course an improvement of the program and its features is important. Nevertheless I prefer descriptions of the available possibilities, workarounds and tricks instead of a repeated lament about shortcomings and their not perfect workarounds.
Please forgive this intervention, I don't want to start a personal argument or even keep you from further contributions
