bug:plays a frame pass set point out

Reesej wrote on 7/18/2004, 5:33 PM
My set point out was at 37:31:06
The preview worked properly and ended at the out point.
After the DVD was burned, the clip played past the out point to at least 2 frames further which was the beginning of a different scene. Appears to have played maybe only one frame.
I move the out point back to 37:29:18 and burned another DVD. This DVD did not play the frame I wanted excluded.
Has anyone else experienced this?
To be safe I guess I'll need to set the out point back at least 3 or 4 frames.

With Mpeg2, you are dealing with I-Frames which are usually every 15 video frames, so the best accuracy you are going to get is 1/2 second.

Thanks Gary,
That is an important piece of info for using DVDA2. I'll be careful not to cut it so close next time.
Does that have any effect on chapters? (could a chapter start a frame too soon?)

What Gary referred to is not a DVDA issue, it's an MPEG issue.

And yes, it has an effect on chapters.

I understand that it is a mpeg issue but if I understand correctly, the in and out points I select in DVDA2 and the resulting DVD may then include frames not selected due to an inaccuracy of up to 1/2 sec. So I need to give set points a margin of error of approx 1/2 sec when using DVDA2(or any other program)?
Thanks
