Bug report in Vegas Pro 16.0.248 (events moving)

musko wrote on 9/2/2018, 3:34 AM

Hello,
I found another bug in Vegas Pro 16.0.248 with moving events (auto ripple - ON).

As you may see in Vegas Pro 16 moving events with auto ripple isn't smooth.

And in Vegas Pro 15 is moving events smooth.

So for now turning off project media tab fix this problem

Kinvermark wrote on 9/4/2018, 2:34 PM

I wonder if this is related to dynamic link to the project media main storyboard? (I am seeing lots of problems with the storyboard function.)

Former user wrote on 9/4/2018, 2:46 PM

Confirmed. Here it is also like this.

I'm not seeing this in VP16 Build 261 (Windows 8.1) Question? You appear to be grabbing the event on the timeline in the track above which is minimized. Is that right???

Add 500 video files on a timeline, open project media tab and you'll see this as well. This is only cause of the bug. Other acts didn't affect at all, I spent 3 hours trying to solve this problem and finding the cause)))))

i have the same problem. a timeline with a lots of videos is unusable slow.

removing the timeline events, letting only ONE event, is still slow. but then, clearing unused media from the bin, leaving the only one, goes back to normal.

So just close "Project media" tab for now and continue to work)

This is an interesting finding. I have always typically worked with the project media tab closed and had a good (responsive) editing experience. Others have complained about sluggishness; perhaps this is a root cause with earlier versions too?

No, I've checked, VP15 working great with opened and closed project media.

OK. Good to know.

Former user wrote on 9/5/2018, 5:37 PM

The problem only disappears when the Project Media Window is closed.

GerY wrote on 9/8/2018, 12:22 AM

I don't have this problem even when Project Media is on.

Mine Auto Riple works good and smooth.

There is another bug like this that has been bothering me for a very long time. When I drag with the selection tool and select a bunch of video- and audioelements on the timeline and I make absolutely sure that I click and hold INSIDE one of the largest elements, it can’t be dragged 9 out of 10 times. I have to retry this 4 or 5 friggin times before it all moves...

Am I the only one? Vegas 16 still has this annoying bug...

The same problem😡
The product are not good enough!
I think to return the license to Magix!

Kinvermark wrote on 9/12/2018, 2:11 PM

I have no idea why you guys experience this UI behavior, all I can say is that I have completely the opposite experience. No problem selecting and dragging, and zooming, and scrolling... most fluid of any NLE out there.

@jbbr This is a USER PEER GROUP forum, so please either ask for help nicely, or open a topic for discussion, or take your complaint to Magix customer service. Thanks!

Yes, this fix the problem!

I also have this problem, but did not help to close the Project media tab.

TEP wrote on 10/3/2018, 5:50 PM

It looks like Pashi is right. Closing the Project Media works. Thanks so much. Don't know how the hell you figured that out!

Robert Johnston wrote on 10/3/2018, 9:02 PM

When I change the editing tool to the selection tool, dragging is smooth even when Project Media is open. When the editing tool is normal, dragging is bad when Project Media is open, but ok when it is closed.

This issue is fixed in VEGAS Pro 16 Update 2 (build 307). From the release notes:

"The Main Timeline storyboard no longer automatically reacts to changes on the timeline. A Refresh Storyboard button has been added to the Project Media window when viewing a storyboard which enables you to manually match the storyboard to the timeline"

and...

"Timeline performance problems caused by automatically updating the Main Timeline storyboard during a timeline edit have been resolved"
