BUG: Timeline Track-List Scrolling gets "stuck" at the bottom

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 2/9/2024, 12:28 PM

Weird thing happening with V21. When I scroll to the bottom of my track list using the down-arrows or Ctrl-Mouse-Wheel, it gets "stuck" unless I grab the scrollbar and move it back up. Anyone else have this happening?

Short video for visual reference.

But of course! (I've been posting on the forum for a hot second or two ;-) )

(I can also insert actual emoticons instead of just keyboard smiley-faces)

Thing is, I screen-captured using Vimeo's screen-record feature (Vegas's screen-record never has worked well for me) so posting the link seemed easiest. And the "video upload" I thought would require downloading the video first, just to re-upload it.

Looks like there were 12 expanded, then inside the collapsed muted group there were probably 8 in the ISO video group and 8 in the ISO audio group. Nothing Vegas can't handle

I have 17 tracks with names added. Using the mouse scroll wheel and Ctrl key, scrolling up and down, I don't see what's in your video.

I have resized the tracks in all types of size, and no issues. Use the scroll bar and it's "up/down" icons. Everything worked as it should on my computer.

Just recorded another video... same project.. I can show how it doesn't occur and then how to make it occur.. maybe something in there will reveal where the fix needs to be applied. Definitely a bit of UI jank going on :-)

And hey, @Former user, I even downloaded and re-uploaded it here just for you. Happy Valentine's Day! 💚

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns Thanks for making the effort 👍😉 I've tried to recreate this with no success, 10 tracks, Master track moved up, scroll to bottom etc. it doesn't get stuck for me, sorry.

OK. I created a new project, inserted a bunch of video tracks and grouped a bunch at the bottom to simulate my problem project.

Couldn't reproduce it either -- but I *did* notice sometimes a different "gap" between the last track and the bottom master track.

@Former user and @Reyfox Figured out how to reproduce -- try this.

Change the height/size of any of the video tracks... make it bigger. Then use the scroll-wheel or down-arrow to scroll down the tracks. You'll note a much larger gap between the last track and the bottom. If you move the bottom/master up just a bit higher to the middle you'll experience the sticking problem at the top of the track list after you scroll down. I'm happy to make another video if you need ;-)

So something about changing the track height/size is causing some scroll-calc to go wonky.

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns thanks for showing me "how". But unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce what you are experiencing. At first, I thought maybe it was because I don't have parent/child tracks. So I made a bunch of tracks just that.

I then moved the Master Audio Bus Track where I could only see 4 tracks. Then I started the scrolling. With the mouse wheel and the up/down arrows on the far right by the scroll bar. I could not replicated the jumbled text that you showed.

Screenshot of the mess I created to test what you are experiencing.

What version of Vegas are you using? I also see you have a volume slider on your master bus, but mine has been missing (and is a bug others have noticed as well.. but not in your screen-shot).

Did you try making any of your tracks larger?

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns I changed the heights of several tracks including the parent/child tracks and still no jumbled text. I was using the scroll wheel as fast as I can. Same with the up/down scroll arrow keys.

Every was fine.

As for the Vol slider in the Master, I didn't do anything special. It has always been there no matter what version of Vegas I've used. I never use the Master track though. I do a master volume adjustment on the right side of the preview window. Alt+3.

I remember that post, I don't have a slider, I think it was mentioned the slider is still there & works but it's invisible so impossible to use

Tried with 18 tracks, different sizes, a few effects .. still no luck getting it stuck 🤷‍♂️
