I have Vegas Pro 21 which prompted me with an update this morning to Build 187. My screen is showing a dialogue box that says "The program will now be closed for installation. Waiting for the application to close..." yet the application is closed and has been for 20 minutes now.
I tried installing it choosing to install on application close, but then it said that it couldn't find a temp directory and wouldn't install it anyway.

Thank you, yes I am aware of that. I still have the same problem. I disabled my firewall, ran the installation again and this time got a message saying: "The installation files could not be extracted. ERROR: Can not open output file : E:\TEMP\MAGIX\UPS\6120FECF-9921-4F9D-96A4-A6E80BA56530\Temp\magxfx71yimv\addon\data\bitmap\icon.ico"
BTW my VegasPro 21 the Temp directory is set for C:\Users\...\AppData\.. etc. and nowhere in preferences or options do I refer the program to my E drive.

What if you just download it from that post and install with VEGAS closed?
You are sure that Windows itself isn't using the e drive for temp storage?
I had a similar issue and ultimately solved it by rebooting then running https://dl04.magix.net/2023/VEGASPro21/VEGAS_Pro_21.0.0.187_DLV_DE-EN-FR-ES-BR_231102_18-19_E4E5CB91.exe without starting Vegas first.
