@Richard-Andrewski Hi, you can find the (300) build on this link https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/

Can you describe your problem with 314?

The problem is open project created under V300, try to go to set aspect ratio and it immediately dies the moment I click on the aspect ratio link on the project.

So did I understand that right:

  1. You have a project, created with build 300
  2. You open this project with build 314
  3. Then you go to the project settings
  4. Then you try to change the pixel aspect ratio in the project properties
  5. Vegas crashes

No not like that. Open project from 300. Click on the small icon on the video on the timeline that goes to Event Pan/Crop. Dialog comes up where you can stretch video, set aspect ratio, etc. First thing I noticed is there was a pause right away where the whole app froze then the dialog about shutting down Vegas 21. Very simple, should be no problem. Could always do in previous versions.

Having the same issue as Richard. Although it's happening to any new project created when hitting the event/fx function on a video. I'm running on Windows 11 and have tried updating the DLL doesn't seem as though the DLL is corrupt on my end. I get the following error log.

I may try reverting back to the 300 build. See if it's still happening.

This is my 3rd day of using Vegas and it's already unusable due to this issue. :(

I can confirm reverting back to build 300 fixed the issue. I can now use the Video Event FX functions without crashes. Seem to be an issue with the new build. I did try reinstalling build 314 prior to reverting back which didn't fix the issue.

Richard-Andrewski wrote on 5/15/2024, 8:18 PM

Same for me. Reverting back to 300 fixed the issue. I am running Windows 10 for whatever its worth.

Richard-Andrewski wrote on 5/15/2024, 8:19 PM

Oh and I didn't try to FX function on the video only the pan crop button next to it.

This is probably due to an issue in build 314 with hardware decoding of AVC footage on AMD GPUs.

See my comment here for more details and workarounds.

Yes am using AMD GPU. I went back to 300 for now. Will wait for path or fix. Thanks.

Intel Computer with AMD Radeon 6800 XT latest drivers. I never use photos only full HD video at the moment.

Reyfox wrote on 5/17/2024, 8:36 AM

It would be nice if the posters would add their complete computer specs to the Signature.

I have an all AMD computer. Using AMD's latest driver, 24.5.1, I can open Event Pan/Crop without issue. I use a lot of photos, so do a pan/zoom on them. B314 works just fine on my computer.

I've never experienced any issues with any build or GPU driver using Event Pan/Crop. And since my timeline is always 16:9, I have in Options>Preferences>Editing tab, check marked Automatically crop still images added to timeline. So every image comes on the timeline 16:9, so I have to adjust the setting in Event Pan/Crop.

@Richard-Andrewski I use a combination of photos and video. So I have to use the Event Pan/Crop for adding effects. Never a problem... well, except what I've posted elsewhere concerning using Boris FX Corner Pin.... And saying Intel computer means nothing. Computers are comprised of RAM (how much), CPU's (make and model) and GPU's. Latest driver? What version. I edit 4K all the time. And usually have still images that have to be cropped/pan/zoom in Event Pan/Crop. This is with every video.

Maybe provide a sample of your video clip to the cloud. I will give it a go on my computer and report back.
