Build dynamic ram preview doing nothing

paulo-r wrote on 7/2/2019, 11:46 AM

I have sony vegas 16. And I'm trying to use dynamic ram. I select the region, press shift+B and nothing. Even when manually going to "Tools" It just jumps and stays in the first frame of the start of the region and remains still. No reaction. The preview, I have set to quarter and in the preview max(MB) I have 2000. Any help? Thanks :)

@paulo-r - No longer SONY. It was bought by MAGIX in 2016. OK, how much have you set aside for Build RAM Previews? The other vector is just how complex your Media is at that point? And no, Prerender is NOT Ram BUILD. Two different functions/tools.

I have 8GB remaining if that is what you meant with aside(sorry english). The media was very simple and no effects. Thanks for the info. So the ram preview doesnt work because it was bought by MAGIX, but its still present in the software? I didnt understand that very well. The prerender video looked like dynamic ram like when I had sony vegas 12, only diference is it now appears a progress bar. And no video file is saved on the PC, only frames in ram I guess. But it's solved now :) But if you could explain better to be what happened with that I would appreciate it :) Have a good day!

What was the length of the selection? What was the Dynamic RAM MB setting? "Options> Preferences> Video"
The preview window must be open as well or 'Build Dynamic RAM Preview' is grayed out in the Tools menu, and Shift+B does nothing.

"No longer SONY. It was bought by MAGIX in 2016"
"Prerender is NOT Ram BUILD."

+1 for both

It something like 5s. And I tried shorting it. the Dynamic RAM MB setting was 2000MB I wrote it above.
This is in the vegas pro 16 user manual and it has always been like this.

Check page 430.

"2.
From the Tools menu, choose Build Dynamic RAM Preview (or press Shift+B). Each frame in the selection is rendered."

What are your project settings? 2000MB sounds a lot, but it is not, if it is a 4k project. Assuming it is an 8bit project. There is storage for only 38 frames of uncompressed video. More can not be pre-rendered in 2000MB.

With a 32bit project no dynamic RAM preview is possible, at least with my R9 380.

I don't beleive we should provide support to people who call it SONY Vegas due to the high likelihood that it is a cracked version. Prove it is not and I will answer the question.

Problem has nothing to due with the amount of RAM setting; program will always process some small area. This behavior is normal in certain conditions that the user has set.
