NewTek VT 3?

You'll still need an rebroadcasting service server - if you go the WMV route (somewhat cheaper and high quality than high concurrency Real). You can serve 4 or 5 users with manybe a couple of stream types with a big and high-bandwidth RAM + dual Xeon (or Opteron) PC.

Globalstreams have another solution but this will cost and won't be as flexible in the long term - GlobeCaster.

Other things you will need besides a computer:

1. Camera - 3 chip DV, MiniDV, DVCAM, DVPro - doesn't matter.

2. Microphones for as many people as will be in a shoot at a time - get lavs and/or shotguns.

3. Video switcher

4. Teleprompter

5. Scan converter

6. Audio Mixer - add up everything that has an audio output in your studio and double that, to get the number of channels you'll need in a mixer.

7. Capture Card - I've only used Osprey cards from Viewcast for live broadcast so I can't comment on any other brands.

8. Lighting Instruments - fluorescents if you can afford them. And A years supply of tube or globes (whichever direction you decide to go).

9. Assorted light stands, grip equipment, filters, gels and lighting controls (get more than you think you'll need).

10. Acoustic treatment for the walls

11. Two color NTSC video monitors

12. Limiter/Compressor

13. As big a gear rack as you can afford

14. Two powered studio monitors

15. Headphones

16. Every audio and video adapter known to man (four each)

17. Every type of audio and video cable you can find (10 each)

18. Audio cable tester

19. Grip tape and duct tape

20. Soldering kit

21. 48 point 1/4 inch Patchbays (four)

22. UPS units for everything that CANNOT crash during a session

23. Video decks - DV, MiniDV, DVCAM, SVHS, DigiBeta, Beta

24. Backdrop

25. Reflector kit

I'm sure I missed something - hopefully someone else can fill in the holes. ;-)

Good luck,

Shawn
