Building peaks

Is there a way to prevent Vegas from buildings peaks when a new audio-video file is added?

You can turn off the peak display entirely, but, this also hides the video frames as well. I'm not sure why these two things are tied to the same control checkbox.

On the other hand, i don't really understand why you wouldn't want to see them.

Try syncing up an external audio recording to the main soundtrack manually (without PluralEyes) without them ;-)

Also, knowing if your levels are recorded too high or low is nice to know.

i quite often bring in material that doesn't need anything doint to it, generally not a problem peakwise, but irritating on longer drop ins...

On the other hand, i don't really understand why you wouldn't want to see them. When I don’t need them, they’re a waste of time. Specifically, when I import a single AV file for the sole reason of rendering its audio to a separate file. I then have to wait for Vegas to finish its peaks because it won’t let me render the audio until it is finished. And when I am done with the audio rendering, I have two unnecessary files in the directory of the original AV file, and I have to delete them.

So, why would I want to see the peaks for that?
