building peaks lockup v8

i am having problems with the program locking up when i drag a avchd canon hf100 .MTS file into the timel ine. when it builds the peaks it locks, only on some files. if i disable the view "waveforms and frames" it works fine. i see there is lots of posts on this, but no solution.

what is the solution so i can see the peaks again??

you can try 2 things:

1. Instead of dragging the files into the timeline, import them first using the import media button, then drag them from the media library.
2. Import the files into your computer first using the supplied Canon software, then drag those files into Vegas.

I have the HF10, when I drag right into the timeline it doesn't work but using method 1 above, no problems.

The only one that really works for me:

Recapture your footage with your virus protection and any other background programs that are running disabled. What is locking up your system is errors that you acquired during capture.

Drag one onto the T/L.
Wait for the waveform to build.
Hit Undo to take that one off the T/L
Repeat for each file.
That'll let you isolate the problem file(s).
Then either try recapturing as Laurence suggested or render the problem file(s) to another codec. Before recapturing cleaning the heads in your camera / VCR might help.
