I have a 45 minute HDV piece I'm editing. I dragged the video onto the timeline and let it build peaks - it took like 10-15 minutes. Then later I wanted to create a clip from within the trimmer, and it went on to build the peaks all over again.

I haven't had that happen when I build the peaks first within the trimmer. Dragging from trimmer to timeline doesn't cause a rebuild. But going to the timeline first causes a second build if you then go to the trimmer. Anyone know why, and is that just the way Vegas works, or am I doing something wrong?

I'm running 8.0c on a Q6600 w/ 3gb memory
