Burn a 720p BD?

rstrong wrote on 4/13/2014, 8:51 PM
Hello,
I want to render a project in SVP12, that I can burn a 720p BluRay disk in DVDA. I'm not finding a BD template for 720p in the render as window. I do see an Internet 720p template in MainConcept AVC, and I saw an HDV 720p template in MainConcept 2. Which render template would I choose. All the BluRay templates I saw in Sony AVC & MC2 were for 1440 or 1920. My video clips are from my Canon5DMII, and stills too. HD @ 1920x1080.

thanks,
robert

Use this one for Sony AVC 1280x720-59.94p-19.3 mbps.

Place it in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates\avc-sony

robert

Hi John,

Do I need to create a folder 'Render Templates', I'm not seeing any folder in the directory you stated.

John,

It shows up in the MC AVC templates, is that okay? I keep getting the 'cannot create file, error unknown.'

thanks,
robert

"Do I need to create a folder 'Render Templates', I'm not seeing any folder in the directory you stated."

If you have never created and saved a custom template, then you might have to create a Render Template folder.

This should work for Sony AVC if you get the file structure correct. I use it all the time.

Hint:

You can create your own custom render templates using the 1920x1080-24p templates as starters. I've done 720-60p in so many different versions that I should just upload them all somewhere.

No, I found it finally, but it shows up in the MC AVC templates, and when I try to render I get an error.
I created a template in Sony AVC using your specs. and it started rendering ok. I couldn't think of anything else to do.

"I couldn't think of anything else."

That's the right thing to do.

Is there a tutorial on creating a template? I never did that before, I would like to know if there is something I missed.

thanks,
robert

Hope you got it sorted.
720p on a BluRay is actually pretty awesome, because you can fit a ton of program onto a disc, and it will play beautifully on any screen under about 42".
rstrong wrote on 4/13/2014, 9:53 PM
This friend of mine wants to play it on his 52" 720p plasma, should I just stick with 1080p which I already have a rendered file?

thanks,
robert

If the 52" plasma panel has a decent scaler, it should look just fine if you leave it at 1080.

I use the 720p templates rather than upscale 720-60p material that I have.

I've never seen a tutorial for customizing templates. In the early days of HD, I did a lot of tinkering. I even wrote HD-DVDs for a brief time.

Thanks for this, I used it last night to render a project. Tonight I'll burn a disc and see what happens.
