burning and preparing dvd

if you send over a project from vegas MS and not edit in any way in DVDA
( just a single movie) with nothing added to the original project
can you just burn the dvd - or do you stilll have to prepare it????
also
my project was perfect when I previewed it - but when played on my
dvd player - it is not that clear and the sound is distorted and scratchy
( I tried 2 different machines)

any ideas?

If you sent a DVD-ready MPEG to DVD Architect, DVD Architect can quickly convert it to a VOB file -- and you should do that even if you aren't adding menus.

If you've done that, I've no idea why you're getting distorted music. Assuming you watched your audio meters in Vegas and ensured that your sound wasn't overmodulating or peaking in the red.

yes I think the audio meter may have been too high -
do I have to rerender the entire project to rectify this???

I use Vegas Pro, but the answer I believe is yes.

You need to drop the level of the audio, and render it out as a new project and continue from there. Don't feel bad, I've done lots of videos using the Sony products and on my first Hi Def wedding I had issues where as I had to render the project several times while fine tuning. Then yesterday I got my Blu-ray burner and though I was all set to burn. But during one more preview of the video I noticed one spelling error.

Yup, I had to correct it and render out a 21G file. Fortunately I have a Quad core and it only took a little under 3 hours.

Just render the new audio as an AC-3 file, and replace the original audio source in the DVDA project.

one last thing -
do I have to prepare the whole project again in DVDA before I burn???
