Burning Blu-ray ISO - DVDA workaround

Many of us were dismayed when DVDA was modified in the 5.2 version to no longer allow burning blu-ray ISO files to a regular DVD (i.e. it forces you to burn to BD discs or it won't burn at all). The problem persists in DVDA 6. For projects under 25 min in length, it was nice to be able to burn the disc on cheaper media as BD players don't seem to care what kind of media the file is on.

Anyway, I found that Windows 7 has a Disc Image Burner which is a bit of a challenge to find (if you search for it, it doesn't show up!) To access it, simply right click on the ISO file and select Burn Disc Image. It opens a simple dialogue box that allows you to burn the file to a DVD. So far, my test BD on DVD discs work great.

Many of us have been using ImgBurn to burn the .iso files and DVD folders. The program is invaluable for all things round and shiney.

Another fan of Imgburn (once you manage to navigate around the home page and find the actual link to download Imgburn and not some of the other stuff advertised there). I even donated to his (Lightning) support for Imgburn as a worthwhile cause.

It seems that web pages with free downloads are becoming more and more cluttered with advertisements and download buttons for stuff you don't want. A prime offender is DoubleClick, a Google company which provides this service to others. I have added the line

127.0.0.1 googleads.g.doubleclick.net

to my hosts file (in Win XP it is in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc). Now these web pages display an error message for each missing ad. Not tidy but not confusing anymore either.

If you want to step back to the previous web page, don't use the back button in the browser, but skip all the DoubleClick entries using the down-arrow list.
