Burning lead-out death

OK, I have now made the 3rd coaster in a row with DVD Architect trying to burn to a DVD+DL disc. It finishes the entire burn and then goes to the "Burning lead-out" and just sits there for 20 minutes or so and then finally fails.

'SFMMCX'-(17)
'atapi'-(1)
-'PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D 1.39'-(1)
Module mmc.cpp Line 1331

Status: 00000000
Command:
Sense: 00 00 00
Info: 00 00 00 00
Specific: 00 00 00
Extra:

If I cancel before it fails, then it just sits there another 5 minutes and then crashes. Nice.

DVD Architect 3.0c, Pioneer 110 with the latest 1.39 firmware, burning to Verbatim +DL discs which I've burnt countless others in other software on the same drive just fine.

What gives?

I have this same issue. Luckily I have a much cheaper quality Lite-on DVD that burns just fine. It's the Pioneer DVD burner. Any ideas? I have version c of DVD Architect.

I haven't tried updating the firmware on the DVD burner yet, but I read in another forum that this doesn't work.

Thanks,

I had the same problem with my Pio 109. Report the problem to Sony Tech Support. They will provide you with some updated dll files that fix the problem. You can also just burn the DVD image with Nero or some freeware like ImgBurn.

BTW, updating the firmware won't do anything. You can try using different media in the interim to see if that helps. Some folks have reported success with -R DL disks, when +R DL disks failed to burn the lead-out.

Hmm, last time I tried, DVD Architect got completely confused when I fed it a -R DL disc, it told me it couldn't burn to CDRs or somesuch.

I've taken to just using PGCEdit to assign the layer break and then burn in ImgBurn.

I have a new computer on the way which has a LiteOn burner in it, guess I'll see what happens with that one.

Try updating your drive's firmware, and then once you've done that, try toggling the "Skip Drive Database" option in the DVD Architect options menu. Try burning a test DVD with the option on, and another with it off. One *should* come out fine.

Cheers,
Atheryn.

As I said in my original post, I am using the latest firmware but I will try the 'Skip Drive Database' option and see what happens.

I am using the Plextor 716A with Verbatim 2.4x DL discs and DVD-a3c no problem at all. Also use Nero just fine. I also have a Pioneer 109 and the Plextor gives what looks like a better visual burn. As I recall I had the same problem with DVD-A3C and the Pioneer 109.
