Burning Questions

All of my recent output from Vegas Video has been a DV print-to-tape option. So, I have never "burned" a VideoCD/DVD before. I have an Adaptec Easy Creator 4 running in Windows 2000 on a Comapq E-500 laptop.

What process to I need to go through to create my first VCD/SVCD/DVD? Do I need to upgrade my Adaptec software or perhaps get another burner? Use Data/Easy CD Creator and drag files over or do I need to somehow "condition" the CD-R/RW? Has anyone used Pinnacle's Express yet -- would this help?

Thanks

Your CDR software has to support the burning of Video CD's and DVD's is all that is needed (and of course a DVD burner for DVD's). Video CD's there is a template in vegas that you can render your vegas project to. You shouldn't really change this template because the format of the audio and video is important to make sure they will function correctly. Video CD's use an Mpeg1 format and DVD's use Mpeg2. You will be able to render your project to a DVD format, but you must have a DVD burner to burn it to, along with the proper software that supports DVD burning. Super Video CD is another format that is very similar to DVD (ie it supports Mpeg2), and you can record this to a regular CDR, but again you must have the correct CDR software that supports Super Video CD. I use Nero burning Rom, which supports all these formats and will warn you if you are creating a Video CD which will not be recognized by most players and then gives you an option to correct the format.

Oh yeah, Sonic Foundry....when are you going to make a Super Video CD template in Vegas? I know this is not a widely supported format, but yet is a common one.
